The Fairfax Art League

The Fairfax Art League was founded in 1986 by six artists exhibiting their work as a group in the John C. Wood complex. In 1987 the six artists, after much consideration about the name adopted The Fairfax Art League (FAL). League was selected since League, by definition, is a covenant between persons, and FAL's covenant is to promote art in the community. In 1988, the League applied for incorporation through the Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts, which in February 1989 resulted in the League incorporation as a Non Profit Organization. In the years since its inception the League's membership has grown to over 100 members. The Fairfax Art League (FAL) is a vibrant organization comprised of local and regional artists coming together to celebrate the arts. We promote our arts through:

* Free demonstrations to the public in conjunction with the monthly membership meeting

* Programs to educate youth in the classroom setting; * Galleries in downtown Fairfax where members may exhibit works;

* Events and receptions promoting the arts where patrons and artists may interact.

All Fairfax Art League meetings, demonstrations, educational events and gallery exhibitions are free to the public. Sponsors and local area artists are invited to join the Fairfax Art League for cooperative opportunities to exhibit their fine artwork, meet other artists at monthly meetings and to attend private demonstrations as well as educational workshops and seminars.
